Two out of three working Belgians prefer a permanent workstation to flexible workspaces. This is according to Befimmo's first Workplace Barometer . Flexible workspaces in open-plan offices, according to many employees, lead to lower concentration and less connection. The message is clear: employees are once again looking for a sense of security, familiarity, and a place where they can focus on their work. The era of the completely open space seems to be over, according to the newspaper De Tijd.
Professor of labor economics Stijn Baert (UGent) explains in De Tijd : “A flexi-place prevents you from bringing 'yourself' to work and creating your own nest, which can make you less competent.”
And that's where glass walls and doors make all the difference. They add structure to a space without sacrificing the feeling of light and openness. This way, you combine the best of both worlds:
fixed workstations with visual connection
transparency without disturbing noises
acoustics that enable concentration
The Workplace Barometer also shows that collaboration and contact with colleagues remain a key reason for coming to the office. It's therefore crucial to find a good mix of spaces for collaboration and quiet work.
With glass walls, you can easily create that balance. Your office becomes a place where employees feel good and truly productive.
